A milestone installation for one of Norway’s largest seafood processors, MOWI Norway AS, Herøy, has Skaginn 3X’s team rejoicing after working around the challenges presented by Covid-19. The team in Iceland and Norway just finished installing the impressive Rotex tanks for a Sub-Chilling™ system that was recently launched.

Keeping salmon chilled for longer

The Rotex is the heart of the revolutionary Sub-Chilling™ technology. It is designed to keep fish chilled, ice free and fresh for longer using sub-zero temperatures without freezing the product. The RoteX system operates on a FIFO principle. The first-in, first-out (FIFO) process ensures that all product receives identical treatment resulting in consistent, superior quality. The cooling method turns the fish itself into the cooling refrigerant and allows it to maintain an ideal temperature for longer.

Supporting sustainable fisheries

Skaginn 3X’s original, patented technology is a gamechanger when it comes to preservation, fresh fish logistics and product quality and freshness.  SUB-CHILLING™ delivers firmer product with less gaping that holds up far better during processing, resulting in better yield every step of the way. No ice means up to 20% less transport weight and significant savings on fuel and labor.
