BAADER participates in the 16th North Atlantic Seafood Forum 2021 Digital Conference on June 8-10th with a special edition of the BAADER Innovation Day. The BAADER ID will host a panel, titled Business Post-COVID ‒ Recession and Climate Change, with four renowned experts in their field who will explore the ways in which the seafood industry needs to prepare for the waves of recession and climate change in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The North Atlantic Seafood Forum is the worlds’ largest top executive seafood business conference. Since 2005 the conference has been a meeting place for the top tiers in the global seafood industry, providing invaluable insight on a wide variety of seafood business-related subjects.  


ReAct, ReThink and ReDefine the future of sustainable food 

With the Innovation Day, BAADER brings together researchers, scientists, and professionals from diverse areas to explore and discover the opportunities and roadblocks on the way to a more sustainable future of food.  

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated how the world can suddenly be turned upside down. Adjusting to the emerging changes triggered by this global experience will require efforts even bigger in scope, if the COVID wave will be followed by two even bigger waves of recession and climate change. 

Four renowned experts address these questions at the BAADER ID Special NASF 2021 in a lively panel discussion led by host Chris Brow. Presenting at the panel will be John Connelly, President of the National Fisheries Institute, Cyrille Filott, Global Strategist for Consumer Foods at Rabobank, Dr. Michael Hüther, professor at the German Economic Institute IWKoeln and Andri Snær Magnason, author and documentary film director.

John Connelly 

John Connelly
President, National Fisheries Institute  


John Connelly is the President of the National Fisheries Institute, a role he has served in since 2003.  NFI is the United States industry trade group representing the seafood industry. He has a master’s in business administration from George Mason University. Connelly has served as Chairman of the International Coalition of Fisheries and helped found the International Coalition of Aquaculture Associations. He also serves on the Marine Stewardship Council and the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation–the global tuna industry’s sustainability organization.  


Cyrille Filott

Cyrille Filott is a global strategist for Consumer Foods at Rabobank. Rabobank is a cooperative bank focusing on international business and rural activities as well as the food and agriculture sector. Filott has a master’s in financial business economics from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. As a business economist, he has a wealth of experience in fund management and equity research. He joined Rabobank’s Research Food and Agribusiness in 2008. As of early 2014, Cyrille Filott has served as a strategist in the consumer foods sector.

Professor Michael Hüther is an economist who has since 2004 served as Director of the German Economic Institute, a private economic research institute in Germany that promotes liberal economic and social order.  

Prof Hüther has a Ph. D from the Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, where he studied Economics and History and is an honorary professor at the European Business School. Awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the President of the Republic, he has previously held several important positions in research, teaching, and banking, including at Stanford University, the German Council of Economic Advisers, and DekaBank.

Andri Snær Magnason

Author, Documentary Film Maker 

Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelandic author, environmentalist and documentary film director whose work has been translated into 40 languages. As an environmentalist, Magnason has been active in the preservation of the Icelandic highlands. He has also organized various events to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of global warming on the environment, community and culture.  

He has a bachelor’s in literature from the University of Iceland and his book “On Time and Water” is currently shortlisted for the Nordic Councils Literary Prize of 2021. Andri Snær Magnason was a candidate for the 2016 Icelandic presidential election.
