Together with fishermen worldwide, Skaginn 3X has developed the patented RoteX on-board bleeding/chilling solution, which is ideal for whitefish and flatfish. Our customers have enjoyed higher prices and recognition for their products processed at sea by RoteX. Controlled bleeding time and chilling time with the First-in, First-out (FIFO) principle contributes to supplying constant and superior quality.

The solution is suitable for most fishing vessels both big and small and can be arranged for vessels as small as 11 meters long and 4 meters wide. The patented side injection circulates seawater and/or fluid ice and evacuates blood efficiently. Temperature is regulated and optimised according to the seawater temperature, time to landing and further processing method.

Benefits of RoteX™ for bleeding and chilling

Bleeding is important process for groundfish, and insufficient bleeding results in blood color in fillets and increases bacterial count. By optimising the timing and temperature of the bleeding process with RoteX, each fish receives the same treatment and ensures good fillet quality.      

Researches have shown that rapid chilling in the early stages in the processing line extends the rigor mortis period and increases the overall quality and shelf-life. Longer and consistent shelf-life opens for opportunities in logistic and considerable savings.

The RoteX onboard solution can both be installed with heat exchanger or fluid ice system for chilling the product. When operating in colder climates, the system can be installed without special chilling ability.
